ABOUT
Design Educators Summit is a four-day conference/course for high school graphic design instructors. The course operates as morning and afternoon seminars that provide hands-on learning of new tools and innovative methods for teaching graphic design outcomes that are beneficial to students, both in preparing them for future employment in the field after high school and/or for a better interface with post-secondary degree programs.
In addition, this course will provide information and guidance on the qualifications and processes for teaching available articulated media arts courses through College Now; Career Technical Education Pathway certification for media arts instructors; creating and facilitating community supported, work-based learning projects that utilize industry partners, and accessing valuable state-wide resources and support for work-based learning.
The event will be facilitated by Tom Madison, lead faculty for the Graphic Design Program at Lane Community College, Eugene, Oregon, a national award winning Art and Applied Science degree program, and Kate Doyle, graphic design instructor at the Center for Applied Learning and Community Impact (CALCI) in Eugene, a project-based learning center for high school students within the 4J School District.
